After enjoying breakfast in Fes, we set off toward Ifrane, known for its European-style architecture and nickname “Little Switzerland of Morocco.” Our journey continues through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you’ll have the chance to spot and photograph Morocco’s wild monkeys in their natural habitat.
We stop in the charming Berber town of Zaida for a relaxing midday meal before continuing our drive through the scenic Atlas Mountains. We pause to explore the quaint village of Medilt and make our way toward Rich, then venture through Imilchil on our way to the breathtaking Todra Gorges. The stunning landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains will leave you in awe as we explore this unique region.
After breakfast, we leave the Todra Gorges and make our way toward Merzouga, passing through picturesque Berber villages along the route. Experience the first glimpse of the Tafilalet oasis as we pass through the towns of Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud.
Arriving in Merzouga, we take some time to relax before embarking on a magical camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes. The vast sea of golden sand creates a breathtaking and surreal landscape perfect for sandboarding or simply soaking in the serene beauty of the desert. Watch the sunset from atop a towering sand dune as the sky transforms into a palette of warm colors.
Later in the evening, gather around a cozy campfire as the Berbers share their music with traditional drums while you enjoy a delicious dinner under a star-studded sky. Spend the night in a comfortable desert camp, surrounded by the whisper of the winds and endless dunes.
We wake early to experience a magical desert sunrise before making our way back to Merzouga on our camel ride. After freshening up and enjoying breakfast, we begin our journey back toward Fes.
Before crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains, we stop to enjoy tea with a friendly nomadic family, offering a glimpse into their traditional way of life. Continuing on, we pause for lunch in the village of Midelt. Located at an altitude of 1488 meters at the base of the towering Jbel Ayachi (3737 m), this charming village offers spectacular views and a chance to unwind.
After lunch, we proceed on the scenic journey toward Fes, crossing mountain landscapes and winding valleys as we return to the vibrant cultural heart of Morocco.
